Job summary

Segrera Associates in Fort Lauderdale, FL seeks a hands-on Accounting Operations Manager to oversee day-to-day transactional and general accounting activities in a highly manual environment. Report to the Financial Controller and manage multiple processes and deadlines.

The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's in accounting/finance, strong QuickBooks experience, and a proven ability to work independently while prioritizing competing deadlines.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred.
• Progressive experience in general accounting, billing, and accounts receivable.
• Strong hands-on QuickBooks experience is required.
• Solid understanding of general ledger accounting, reconciliations, prepaid expenses, accruals, and journal entries.
• Strong Excel skills and the ability to work accurately with detailed, manually maintained data.
• Experience in a privately held or manufacturing environment is preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• General Accounting — manage prepaid expenses, commissions, account reconciliations, journal entries, and other general ledger activities.
• Manual Billing — prepare, review, and issue customer invoices accurately and on schedule, including nonstandard billings.
• Accounts Receivable — maintain customer accounts, apply cash receipts, monitor aging, research discrepancies, and follow up on outstanding balances.
• Support the monthly close process by preparing journal entries, reconciliations, schedules, and account analyses.
• Calculate, record, and reconcile commissions and other recurring accruals or prepaid balances.
• Maintain accurate customer and transaction records within QuickBooks and supporting spreadsheets.
• Research and resolve billing, payment, and account discrepancies in partnership with internal departments and customers.
• Prepare reports and supporting documentation for management, audits, and other business needs.
• Identify opportunities to improve the accuracy, consistency, and efficiency of accounting processes in a manual environment.
• Assist the Financial Controller with ad hoc accounting projects and other responsibilities.
