Manufacturing is seeking a hands-on Accounting Manager near Manchester, MD to oversee month-end close, financial reporting, inventory and cost accounting. You will work with the Controller and cross-functional teams to ensure accurate reporting and strong controls.

The role emphasizes operating with GAAP compliance, preparing journal entries, reconciliations, and financial analysis, while supporting cost accounting and manufacturing metrics in a hands-on environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting preferred; Business degree may be considered.
• 5+ years of progressive accounting experience.
• Strong understanding of the full month-end close process.
• Experience preparing journal entries, accruals, prepaids, amortization, reconciliations, and financial analysis.
• Strong GAAP and financial reporting knowledge.
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and ability to analyze large data sets.

Responsibilities

• Support the Controller through the full month-end close process, including journal entries.
• Prepare and review accruals, prepaids, amortization, fixed assets, and other month-end activity.
• Perform monthly balance sheet reconciliations and investigate variances.
• Analyze income statement accounts and prepare supporting schedules and financial analysis.
• Maintain accurate month-end close documentation and account reconciliations.
• Assist with cost accounting, inventory, overhead rate calculations, and standard costs.
