Job summary

St. Bernards Hand & Wrist Center seeks a Physician Assistant to provide dedicated surgical, hospital, and ED support for the Hand Surgeon. The role focuses on OR first-assist duties, inpatient rounds, and perioperative care.

The PA will evaluate ED and hospital consults, perform minor procedures within scope, and participate in perioperative and inpatient follow-up care for surgical patients under supervision. Attendance and independent judgment are essential.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an AMA approved Physician Assistant program and successful completion of the National Certification examination through the NCCPA.
• Licensed by the State Board of Medicine in Arkansas and ACLS certification.

Responsibilities

• Provide surgical, hospital, and ED support as first assistant in the OR.
• Complete inpatient and postoperative rounds and evaluate ED/hospital consults.
• Perform minor procedures within approved scope and privileges.
• Provide perioperative and inpatient follow-up care for surgical patients.
• Obtain histories, perform examinations, order labs and diagnostics, and develop treatment plans with the supervising hand surgeon.
• Attendances is an essential function and use independent judgment within scope and policies.
