Job summary

YMCA of Pierce and Kitsap Counties is seeking a part-time Gymnastics Instructor for our Lakewood, WA location. You will lead gymnastics classes, create progressive lesson plans, and promote safe, engaging activities for children of all ages.

Responsibilities include tracking attendance, communicating with families, and supporting YMCA values during instruction. Candidates should have six months of gymnastics teaching experience or personal gymnastics background, a positive attitude, and the

Qualifications

• Six months or more of experience teaching gymnastics and/or personal gymnastics experience preferred.
• Positive attitude and previous experience with children of all ages and diverse populations.
• Knowledge of program activities and setting up related gym equipment; ability to instruct age-appropriate techniques.
• CPR, First Aid and AED certifications preferred.
• Complete online Child Abuse Prevention training on first day and other required trainings.

Responsibilities

• Prepare lesson plans with progression appropriate to the gymnast's age and ability.
• Instruct gymnasts in a safe and fun manner.
• Outline class lesson plans to keep children moving.
• Enforce safety rules and regulations in the gym.
• Finish each class with a fun group activity.
• Maintain progress records and track attendance.
• Communicate with parents and supervisor regarding performance.
