Job summary

YMCA of Pierce and Kitsap Counties is seeking a part-time Gymnastics Instructor at the Pearl Street Family YMCA in Tacoma, WA. The role focuses on leading gymnastics classes for children, developing age-appropriate progression, and upholding safety standards in a supportive, inclusive environment.

The position requires a minimum age of 15 and prior gymnastics teaching experience. CPR/First Aid/AED certifications are preferred.

Qualifications

• Six months or more of experience teaching gymnastics or personal gymnastics preferred.
• Commitment to valuing and promoting diversity and contributing to an inclusive environment.
• Positive attitude with experience working with children of diverse ages and populations.
• Ability to instruct participants in age-appropriate gymnastics techniques and safe program setup.

Responsibilities

• Prepare lesson plans with progression appropriate to the age and ability.
• Instruct gymnasts in a safe and fun manner.
• Outline class lesson plans to keep children moving.
• Enforce all safety rules and regulations in the gymnastics gym.
• Finish each class with a fun group activity and discuss YMCA values.
