Job summary

firstPRO US partners with a leading life sciences organization to hire a Lab Computing Engineer who merges IT with laboratory environments. The role supports systems connected to scientific instruments in a regulated (GxP) setting and emphasizes hands-on work beyond traditional desktop support.

The position requires 5+ years of relevant experience and a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Life Sciences, or a related field, with strong Windows, networking, and documentation skills.

Qualifications

  • Strong troubleshooting across IT systems and laboratory instrumentation.
  • Solid foundation in Windows environments, networking, and remote systems.

  • Familiarity with lab safety standards and practices.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical support for laboratory systems, including computers connected to scientific instruments.
  • Coordinate installation, relocation, and decommissioning of lab equipment from an IT perspective.
  • Support and maintain Windows-based environments, including security configurations.
  • Ensure compliance with internal policies and regulatory standards through reporting and adherence programs.
  • Serve as a technical point of contact for vendors, field engineers, and internal stakeholders.
  • Contribute to system validation efforts and change management processes.
  • Develop and maintain documentation (procedures, troubleshooting guides, best practices).
  • Track and manage inventory of lab hardware, software, and related assets.
  • Perform preventative maintenance activities as required.

We're partnering with a leading life sciences organization to hire a Lab Computing Engineer who operates at the intersection of IT and laboratory environments. This is a hands-on role supporting systems connected to scientific instrumentation in a regulated (GxP) setting.

This is not a traditional desktop support or CSV-focused role, we're looking for someone who understands how technology integrates within laboratory operations.

What You'll Be Doing
  • Provide technical support for laboratory systems, including computers connected to scientific instruments
  • Coordinate installation, relocation, and decommissioning of lab equipment from an IT perspective
  • Support and maintain Windows-based environments, including security configurations
