Responsibilities

• Designs, develops, implements, verifies and tests algorithms and software for guidance, navigation and control across aerospace platforms.
• Develops simulation tools and verifies performance during powered and coast phases of flight and space missions.
• Performs data processing and modeling to support navigation and guidance functions.
• Ensures hardware and software requirements align with mission objectives and safety standards.

Job description

DPP is seeking a Guidance Navigation Control Engineer III for an opportunity with our client in the Aerospace and Defense Manufacturing industry.
Work Location: Onsite in Chandler, AZ
Duration: 12 months
Terms: W2 Contract
Work Authorization: US Citizen; must be able to obtain/maintain a Secret security clearance

Responsibilities:

• Designs, develops, implements, verifies and tests algorithms and software and simulation tools to perform guidance, navigation and control of aircraft, spacecraft, submersibles, surface ships, missiles, launch vehicles and upper stages during powered and coast phases of launch, flight, earth orbit, interplanetary cruise and orbital insertion, as well as during staging events.
• Navigation functions include the statistical processing of measured data points and their substitution into algorithms simulating physical reality.
• Guidance functions include the formulation of specific equations to achieve a desired position, orientation or orbit in space.
• Control design and analyses processes consist of the development of control laws and hardware and software requirements for aircraft, launch vehicles and/or spacecraft.

Required Qualifications:

• Experience with Kalman Filtering.
• Experience with signal processing for guided missiles and/or interceptors.
• Proficiency in creating and maintaining algorithms and analysis tools in C++, MATLAB and Python.
• Strong foundation in probability theory / statistics.
• Experience with Electro-Optical imaging systems.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Advanced degree in electrical engineering, aerospace engineering, physics, or applied math.
• Experience with onboard/offboard sensor fusion.
• Experience with analyzing large Monte Carlo data sets and/or experience with designing and analyzing simulation experiments.
