Job summary

Hy-Vee is hiring a Hy-Chi Department Clerk in Iowa. You will fill customer orders, prepare and replenish product, and ensure the department runs smoothly while delivering friendly service. This fast-paced role emphasizes accuracy, sanitation, and teamwork.

You’ll start with training and support, required to stand and assist customers across the Hy-Chi counter, cooler area, and checkout. Previous food service experience is helpful, but not required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Up to six months of similar or related experience; training provided.

Responsibilities

• Deliver outstanding customer service by greeting every customer with a smile, taking orders at the Hy-Chi counter, and assisting them with their needs throughout the store.
• Review orders for the day and ensure an adequate food supply by developing or following a production list.
• Prepare, finish, and replenish product as necessary and pull product from the cooler or freezer to prepare for cooking.
• Review the status and appearance of food for freshness and maintain quality standards throughout the shift.
• Check in product, put product away, and review invoices as needed.
• Run the department register, receive payment, and make change as applicable.
• Practice proper sanitation procedures and keep the work area clean, neat, and safe at all times.
• Remove trash and wash dishes as necessary.
• Order product and supplies and price product for customers as needed.
• Answer the phone promptly and provide friendly, helpful service to customers who call.
