Job summary

The Biltmore Company is seeking an entry-level Security Officer 1 to protect guests, employees, assets and property at Biltmore Estate. The role emphasizes world-class guest service, requires a valid NC driver's license, a high school diploma, and the ability to obtain AED/CPR/First Aid certification.

Typical shifts run 8am-6pm or 1pm-11pm with 20–29 hours per week, and benefits include access to the on-site health clinic, estate garden access, and substantial discounts.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 19 years old and have a valid driver’s license.
• High school diploma required; related training or certifications helpful.
• Must have or be able to obtain AED, CPR and First Aid certification.
• At least one year of similar experience in guest services, safety, security, or related field preferred.
• Ideal candidate will have prior safety/security in attractions, hospitality, or upscale hotel/resort with guest service focus.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal). Knowledge of a second language helpful.
• Ability to evaluate situations and exercise good judgment; proactive and initiative-driven.
• Works well independently and as part of a dynamic guest service team.
• Must quickly acquire knowledge of Biltmore's systems and protocols; ability to multitask and adapt.
• Keen attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Provide professional, courteous assistance to guests, employees, and vendors.
• Deliver security and emergency response services for assigned locations and events.
• Support safety and operational needs of staff, guests, and vendors estate-wide.
• Maintain access control for collections, secured buildings, and restricted areas.
• Monitor areas to identify and address safety or security concerns.
• Respond to incidents, emergencies, and requests for assistance.
• Uphold company policies, procedures, and safety standards.
• Provide general support to leadership and Security Department.
• Demonstrate professionalism, communication, situational awareness, and guest service.
