Job summary

Alvarado Street Brewery is seeking a security host for our Monterey pub. This hourly role requires weekend availability and the ability to maintain order and safety for guests and staff in a dynamic service environment.

You will monitor behavior, identify risks, and de-escalate situations while coordinating with management. The position emphasizes professional demeanor, teamwork, and adherence to safety policies.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Valid State Driver’s License.
• Valid State Security Guard Card License.
• Ability to maintain professional demeanor in stressful situations.
• Excellent communication skills – verbal and listening.
• A desire to help where needed and work as part of a team.
• Passion for providing extraordinary service.
• The ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
• Flexibility to work a variety of shifts.

Responsibilities

• Monitor patron behavior and level of intoxication.
• Identify and provide early warning for sketchy behavior.
• Use eye contact and body language to signal unacceptable conduct.
• Warn patrons with discreet comments to resolve behavior.
• Remove obnoxious and offensive persons.
• Maintain professionalism when asking patrons to leave.
• Use force only in self-defense or detention for police.
• Call the police to enforce criminal acts when required.
• Collaborate with Manager to control overcrowding and restaurant intensity.
• Write incident reports for record-keeping under direction of General Manager.
• Resolve conflicts and restrain anyone who fights; take care of patrons’ welfare.
• Direct communication with manager for guest problem resolution.
• Report pressing security-related matters to General Manager and local authorities.
• Other duties as assigned.
• Comply with all safety and health policies and procedures.
