Job summary

Black Bear Diner Hayward is seeking a friendly, professional server to greet guests in a warm, family‑oriented way before, during and after meals. You will take orders, ensure accuracy by repeating orders back, and coordinate with the kitchen to deliver timely meals.

You must wear the proper uniform, maintain a neat appearance, and connect with guests by offering beverages, indicating specials, and checking back for refills.

Qualifications

• Must be able to stand, walk, and stay on feet for extended periods.
• Ability to carry plates and trays up to nine pounds continuously.
• Lift up to 25 pounds at times.
• Able to take orders and operate a POS or adding machine.

Responsibilities

• Greet guests in a professional, friendly and family‑oriented manner before, during, and after meals.
• Take food and beverage orders, repeat back to guests to ensure accuracy.
• Place orders into the POS, communicate any substitutions or shortages to guests.
• Coordinate with the kitchen expeditor or manager for special requests or modifications.
• Offer beverages first and announce daily specials per meal period.
• Check back with guests for beverage refills and to address any delays.
• Maintain a clean, organized station and follow the 'clean as you go' policy.
• Wear the proper uniform and maintain a neat appearance at all times.
• Work as part of a team and be prepared to work overtime if needed.
