Sonesta International Hotels Corporation in Emeryville is seeking an Engineering Supervisor to lead hotel maintenance and engineering operations, ensuring the property stays guest-ready and compliant with high standards.

You will oversee maintenance tasks, guide engineering staff, and support preventative maintenance programs across HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and building systems while coordinating with other departments to deliver top hospitality service.

Qualifications

• Experience in engineering, maintenance, facilities or building operations.
• Previous leadership or supervisory experience in hospitality maintenance.
• Strong knowledge of preventive maintenance programs and building systems.
• Ability to troubleshoot repairs safely and efficiently.
• Knowledge of OSHA and fire/life-safety standards in hospitality.
• Strong communication, teamwork and problem-solving skills.
• Able to multitask in a fast-paced hospitality environment.
• Flexible availability including mornings, evenings, weekends and holidays.
• Passion for hospitality, operational excellence and guest safety.

Responsibilities

• Supervise daily engineering and maintenance operations across guest rooms, public spaces, and facilities.
• Support, train, schedule, and guide team members to ensure efficiency and service.
• Perform and oversee preventive maintenance for HVAC, plumbing, electrical, painting and carpentry.
• Respond to maintenance requests quickly to support guest satisfaction.
• Troubleshoot and repair hotel equipment, life safety systems, and building infrastructure.
• Monitor logs, work orders and inspections for accuracy and compliance.
• Ensure OSHA, fire safety and maintenance policies are followed.
• Support renovation projects, vendor coordination and inventory management.
• Collaborate with Housekeeping, Front Office and leadership to ensure seamless operations.
• Maintain a positive, collaborative work environment aligned with Sonesta culture.
