Job summary

Smith's Food & Drug Centers is seeking a friendly cashier/checker to greet customers, process transactions, and keep the checkout area efficient and welcoming.

You will handle various tenders and follow store policies while maintaining loss prevention and food safety standards in a fast-paced environment. Strong communication and basic math skills help you excel and provide exceptional service to our customers.

Qualifications

• Customer service experience
• Prior experience as a Bagger or Courtesy Clerk
• Knowledge of basic math (counting, addition, and subtraction)

Responsibilities

• Greet, engage, and assist customers at the check lane.
• Process transactions quickly, accurately, and efficiently.
• Understand POS system and handle tenders (Cash, Checks, Credit, Debit, SNAP EBT, Offline SNAP EBT, WIC, Rain checks, loyalty offers, coupons).
• Adhere to cash handling limits and loss-prevention policies.
• Follow guidelines for restricted sale items (Alcohol, Tobacco, DVDs).
• Report pricing discrepancies to the Scan Coordinator.
• Stay current with ads and promotions.
• Adhere to food safety regulations and safety procedures.
• Create a welcoming environment for customers.
