Job summary

Smith's Food and Drug in Midvale, UT is seeking a friendly Cashier/Checker to greet customers, process transactions, and support store service. You will learn and operate the POS system, handle multiple tender types, and follow loss-prevention guidelines to protect store assets.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of basic math (counting, addition, and subtraction).
• Prior experience as a Bagger or Courtesy Clerk.

Responsibilities

• Greet, engage and assist customers in the store.
• Process customer transactions quickly, accurately and efficiently.
• Understand and operate the POS system and handle tenders (cash, card, SNAP EBT, WIC, etc.).
• Follow loss-prevention guidelines and adhere to cash handling limits.
• Comply with policies on restricted items (Alcohol, Tobacco, DVDs).
• Report pricing discrepancies to the Scan Coordinator.
• Follow policies for postage stamps, gift cards and coupons.
• Stay current with ads and promotions.
• Adhere to food safety regulations and safety procedures.
• Identify unsafe conditions and notify management; assist with preventive maintenance of equipment.
• Create a welcoming environment by answering product questions across the store.
• Comply with all laws and company guidelines; work well under pressure.
• Ability to manage conflicts calmly and act with honesty and integrity.
• Follow directions and seek help as needed to resolve issues; assist with minors and seniors as required.
• Perform essential functions with or without reasonable accommodation.
