Job summary

Alaska X in Skagway is looking for a Retail Sales Associate to assist guests in our Mercantile, gift shop, cafe, and saloon. You will welcome guests, answer questions, handle cash and credit transactions, and maintain clean sales areas and related spaces.

The role may involve preparing sandwiches and other items for sale, and requires strong communication and customer-service skills. This is an on-site position in a fast-paced, guest-focused environment.

Qualifications

• Valid Driver’s License
• Valid CPR/First Aid Certificate
• Must be 21 years of age
• Able to lift up to 25 lbs
• Able to work with dogs daily
• Must not be allergic to dogs
• Strong communication, customer service, and attention to detail
• Able to stay organized and calm under pressure in a fast-paced setting
• Basic computer skills; POS/cash handling experience a plus

Responsibilities

• Ensures guests experience the EXCURSION by being attentive to guests’ needs and questions, and notifying management of any unhappy guests.
• Adheres to the company’s standard operating procedures, ensuring consistency, safety, and high-quality operations.
• Communicates accurate information to appropriate staff (counts, office communication, dock coordination).
• Follows all company policies and procedures.
• Performs additional tasks as needed to support the company’s goals and objectives.
