Job summary

Salt & Straw at Valley Fair Mall in Santa Clara, CA is hiring Shift Coordinators to help run daily shop operations, assist during shifts, coach teammates, and ensure great guest experiences in a fast-paced retail food service setting.

You’ll handle opening/closing tasks, oversee task assignments, scooping and hosting duties, customer service, inventory, cash handling, and adherence to safety standards while fostering a positive, inclusive team environment.

Qualifications

• 18+ years old
• Availability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays
• Able to work at least 3 shifts per week, including 2 closing shifts
• High school diploma or GED
• 6+ months of food service, restaurant, retail, coffee, or hospitality experience (1+ year preferred)
• Enjoy coaching, motivating, and supporting others
• Strong communication skills and passion for customer service
• Thrive in fast-paced, team-oriented environments
• Desire to grow leadership skills and take on greater responsibility
• Comfort discussing flavors, offering samples, and creating memorable guest experiences

Responsibilities

• Coordinate daily shop operations to ensure a smooth guest experience
• Guide Scoopers, manage task assignments, breaks, and team support
• Deliver exceptional customer service and resolve guest concerns
• Scooping, hosting, operating the register, cleaning, and other duties as needed
• Coordinate opening, closing, and daily tasks to maintain shop standards
• Coach and support Team Members with real-time feedback and training
• Help maintain product quality, food safety, cleanliness, and safety standards
• Assist with inventory counts, supply management, cash handling, and daily documentation
• Ensure third-party delivery orders meet quality standards
• Foster a positive, inclusive work environment for all Team Members
• Learn and share flavor stories to help guests discover their next scoop
• Partner with shop leadership to uphold operational standards
