Job summary

Food Lion in Dunn, NC is seeking a Front End Associate to provide fast, friendly service at the checkout and assist with front-end operations. You will greet customers, handle cash, bag groceries, and support store standards to ensure a positive shopping experience.

Responsibilities include maintaining cleanliness, assisting customers to their cars, handling transactions, and following procedures for refunds, safety, and to-go orders where applicable. Training and uniform expectations apply.

Qualifications

• High school graduate or equivalent preferred.
• Effective communication and customer service skills.
• Ability and willingness to learn multiple tasks and technical requirements of the job.
• Ability to perform the technical requirements of cashier and service center.
• Must meet minimum age requirements to perform specific job functions.
• Must be able to meet the physical requirements of the position, with or without reasonable accommodations.

Responsibilities

• Smile and provide prompt, accurate and friendly service while engaging customers to create a positive shopping experience.
• Greet each customer and uses his or her name whenever possible.
• Unload customers' groceries from cart to belt and group items for easier bagging.
• Check cart bottoms and under seats for items before completing an order.
• Follow correct bagging procedures by type.
• Scan orders and handle the payment transaction per standard practice.
• Avoid personal conversations with other associates when customers are present.
• Handle cash, checks, coupons, gift cards, partner cards, food stamps and WIC vouchers.
• Follow procedures for refunds and error correction.
• Maintain accurate cash control.
• Follow procedures and perform overrides.
• Identify customers needing assistance and offer to take order to car (Food Lion To-Go if applicable).
• Maintain alertness and call for assistance to service standards.
• Check prices quickly and accurately.
• Be courteous and helpful to other associates.
• Wear the Food Lion uniform with apron and name badge; stay neat and clean.
• Retrieve shopping carts from parking lot and corrals per standard practice.
• Keep workstation and front-end area neat and clean.
• Report register malfunctions to the Customer Service Manager or MOD.
• Ensure MVP savings center KIOSK is stocked and functioning.
• Observe and correct unsafe conditions for associates/customers.
• Notify QA of cleaning or maintenance needs on front end.
• Complete CBT and training aids successfully.
• Perform cashier duties as scheduled or per surge plan guidelines.
• Assist in front-end management during brief absences of CSM/ACSM.
• Perform Food Lion To-Go Runner tasks when scheduled.
• Maintain supplies at check lanes and restock as needed.
• Identify efficiencies to reduce costs and improve productivity.
• Perform all other duties as assigned.
