Job summary

Hai Hospitality, the group behind Uchi, Uchiko and Uchiba, is seeking Hosts to support service by managing reservations and walk-ins, setting guest expectations, and delivering engaging cocktail service for waiting guests. Hosts earn an average of $22 per hour (base pay $16.27/hr plus tips) and benefit from medical/dental/vision coverage, EAP, and a 401(k) with employer matching.

Qualifications

• Effective communication with guests and staff.
• Ability to identify safety issues and follow guidelines.
• Lift and carry trays up to 50 lbs and stock inventory.
• Stand and walk for extended periods.
• Bend, stoop, and reach for seating and service tasks.
• Work in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
• Adapt to various temperatures and spaces in the restaurant.
• Move tables and chairs to reconfigure seating as needed.
• Use kitchen equipment safely (ovens, grills, knives).
• Maintain a neat workspace and proper storage.

Responsibilities

• Acquaint yourself with our menu and Japanese cuisine.
• Provide cocktail service for guests waiting for their table.
• Monitor dining room pace and coordinate with team for smooth table turns.
• Review and execute table placement and guest notes for reservations.
• Build trust with guests and keep them updated while they wait.
