Job summary

Shinka is a modern Japanese and French restaurant opening in San Francisco that seeks a Host to join the team. The role reports to the General Manager and is based at 333 Battery St, San Francisco, CA 94111.

Compensation is $19.61/hour plus tips, with full-time, non-exempt status (32+ hours per week). The position requires guest-service excellence and the ability to stand and walk for extended periods.

Qualifications

• 1+ years of experience in a similar role at a Michelin-level (or equivalent) restaurant.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong organizational and administrative skills.
• Proficient with various word processing, spreadsheet, and basic computer programs.

Responsibilities

• Greet all guests with a genuine, warm welcome and maintain a polished, professional demeanor to ensure a high-level guest experience from arrival to departure.
• Use reservation software to manage incoming bookings, monitor seating rotations, and anticipate the needs of the dining room floor, working with managers/supervisors in front and back of house to streamline service needs.
• Facilitate clear and constant communication between FOH, management, and the kitchen regarding guest flow, VIP arrivals, special service requirements, and all other tasks required as assigned.
• Maintain clean, organized areas adhering to service standards and protocols.
• Manage incoming calls professionally, assist guests with reservation inquiries, and take/leave messages as appropriate.
