Job summary

El Baja is seeking a friendly hostess to greet guests, guide seating, and assist with reservations in a fast-paced setting. You will ensure guests are welcomed, menus provided, and questions answered with a focus on excellent service.

The role requires standing for long periods, multitasking, and a willingness to help other staff as needed. Evening and weekend availability is preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Ability to provide top-notch customer service in a fast-paced environment.
• A positive attitude and ability to work well under pressure with all restaurant staff.
• Does high-quality work while unsupervised.
• Able to work in a standing position for long periods of time.
• Able to safely lift and maneuver trays of food/dishes when necessary.
• Willing to follow instructions and ask questions for clarification if needed.
• Able to handle money accurately and operate a point-of-sale system.
• Able to work in a busy restaurant environment.
• Restaurant experience a plus.
• Availability to work evenings and on weekends, including holidays.

Responsibilities

• Greet guests as they enter and seat them or place on waiting list.
• Provide menus and answer initial questions; seat guests at tables.
• Assign guests to preferred tables while maintaining rotation for servers.
• Engage with guests to ensure satisfaction with food and service.
• Address complaints and escalate to a manager when needed.
• Answer phone calls, take reservations, and field questions.
• Know the menu to answer questions.
• Support other positions in the restaurant as needed.
• Provide excellent customer service.
