Job summary

Coury Hospitality in Texas is seeking a courteous Host Person to welcome guests with eye contact and a smile, manage reservations, and coordinate seating to ensure a smooth dining room flow.

As the first impression, you will answer phones, maintain the waitlist and seating chart, communicate guest needs to servers and managers, and support the team while upholding cleanliness and professional appearance.

Qualifications

• Fluency in reading, writing, and spoken English.
• Excellent personal presentation and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to communicate effectively with guests, co-workers, and supervisors.
• Ability to think and communicate clearly, organize and prioritize in high pressure situations.
• Basic knowledge of the restaurant’s menu and upcoming events.
• Knowledgeable of basic sanitation.
• Knowledgeable of computer operations and ordering procedures.
• Ability to absorb large amounts of information quickly: service procedures, menus, and floor plan.
• Able to multitask and maintain excellent attendance.

Responsibilities

• Monitors guests entering and exiting dining area and greets them.
• Maintains an accurate waitlist and seating chart; informs guests when their table is ready.
• Escorts guests to seats, provides menus, and informs them of their server.
• Takes reservations using OpenTable and reviews the daily reservation book.
• Balances seating rotation for a smooth workflow and communicates with servers.
• Oversees dining room flow during service and maintains a congenial atmosphere.
• Answers dining room telephone, takes reservations, and relays messages.
• Handles guest service issues promptly and reports to Restaurant Manager on Duty.
• Maintains workstation cleanliness and ensures host stand presence.
• Communicates guest preferences to service team; notifies management of delays.
