Job summary

Fred Meyer is seeking a friendly cashier/checker to greet customers, process transactions and assist with inquiries. You will operate the POS system, handle various tender types, and ensure accurate checkouts while maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for all shoppers.

The role requires basic math, strong communication, and the ability to work in a fast-paced setting, with strict adherence to safety and company policies. Prior experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• Customer service experience required.
• Effective communication and math basics needed.
• Experience with cash handling and POS systems preferred.

Responsibilities

• Greet, engage and assist customers at the checkout.
• Process customer transactions quickly, accurately and efficiently.
• Handle cash, checks, credit/debit, SNAP EBT, WIC, rain checks, loyalty offers and coupons per policy.
• Adhere to cash safety guidelines and prevent loss through shrinkage.
• Follow policies for restricted items (Alcohol, Tobacco, DVDs).
• Report pricing discrepancies to the Scan Coordinator.
