Job summary

The Smithsonian National Zoo Retail Stores in Washington DC seeks enthusiastic, customer-focused individuals for a Floor Supervisor role. The position supports daily retail operations by leading staff, delivering exceptional customer service, and maximizing sales while ensuring merchandise stays stocked and well presented.

You will assist the Area Manager with staffing and operations to meet visitor needs. This full-time, trust-fund role requires at least 1 year of supervisory retail experience

Qualifications

• High School Diploma required with 1+ year supervisory retail experience.
• Experience in a high-volume retail environment and store operations.

Responsibilities

• Drive sales growth through strong merchandising and guest service.
• Coach staff on sales, memberships, and KPIs.
• Lead onboarding, training, and development of retail associates.
• Provide hands-on coaching on sales, cash handling, and inventory practices.
• Maintain visible presence on the sales floor and lead by example.
• Assist with workforce planning and scheduling to ensure coverage.
