Job summary

The Smithsonian National Zoo Retail Stores in Washington DC seeks a proactive Retail Floor Supervisor to lead staff, deliver exceptional guest service, and maximize sales while ensuring shelves are stocked and organized. You will support the Area Manager with staffing and operational oversight to meet visitor needs.

Ideal candidates have supervisory experience in a busy retail setting, strong merchandising, and excellent communication skills.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma and 1+ year supervisory or management experience in a high-volume retail environment.
• Strong sales and customer service leadership skills.
• Knowledge of POS cash registers and Microsoft Office.

Responsibilities

• Lead staff and deliver exceptional guest service to maximize sales.
• Analyze retail performance and coach staff on KPIs.
• Assist with onboarding, training, and development of associates.
• Provide coaching on sales, customer service, cash handling, and inventory practices.
• Maintain floor presence and assist with staffing adjustments to meet traffic.
