Job summary

Helix Traffic Solutions – Traffic Control for a Safer Tomorrow is hiring a Permanent Construction Apprentice to join our guardrail and traffic control teams in the Knoxville region. No prior construction experience required; we provide on-the-job training and want motivated individuals who can learn quickly.

You’ll operate post pounder trucks, transport materials, perform pre-trip inspections, install guardrails, locate utilities, and support paving and roadwork while obeying DOT safety rules.

Qualifications

• Requires valid Class A CDL.
• Ability to lift up to 80 pounds and perform physical labor.
• Must pass pre-employment drug screen and be eligible for the driver list.

Responsibilities

• Safely operate a post pounder truck per DOT and company policies.
• Transport guardrail materials and equipment using trailers.
• Load/secure/unload materials with proper load securement.
• Perform pre-trips and post-trips and inspections daily.
• Install guardrail systems per engineering plans and safety standards.
• Drive guardrail posts and assist with installation and repair.
• Locate utilities before excavation or installation.
• Operate tools and equipment safely and efficiently.
• Support paving and roadway construction activities as needed.
• Maintain daily records and DOT documentation.
• Work safely around live traffic and follow safety policies.
