Job summary

Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) seeks an experienced Construction Engineer to support transportation projects through construction project delivery, field engineering, documentation, and contractor coordination.

Qualifications

Job description

DOTD is seeking an experienced Construction Engineer to support transportation projects and programs through construction project delivery, field engineering, construction documentation, contractor coordination, and review of work performed in accordance with DOTD standards and specifications.This position supports the development, delivery, maintenance, or improvement of transportation infrastructure by applying engineering principles, conducting technical analysis, coordinating projects, and conducting compliance-related reviews.

No prior licensed engineering experience is required — training is provided, with opportunities for career progression and advancement through the Engineering job series.

Position is located in Lincoln Parish in District 05, and reports toEngineer 6.

While in an official capacity, DOTD employees must comply with applicable Louisiana and Civil Services laws, rules, and regulations, as well as DOTD policies, procedures, manuals, and directives.

Possession of a current Louisiana license to practice professional engineering.

Job Duties:

• Assists with resolving construction-related issues, technical questions, or project delivery concerns.
• Supports emergency or disaster response activities as needed.

Position-Specific Details:

Career Progression: This position is part of a Career Progression Group and may be filled as Engineer 3, 4, or 5 based on qualifications and agency needs.

Compensation: These positions qualify for a Special Entrance Rate (SER).

• Engineer 3 - $3,083.20/bi-weekly
• Engineer 4 - $3,529.60/bi-weekly
• Engineer 5 - $3,776.80/bi-weekly

Additional compensation may be considered impart with extraordinary qualifications in accordance with State Civil Service Rules and DOTD policy.

Appointment Type: This position may be filled as either a probational appointment (open to all qualified applicants); a promotion (open to all statewide classified and Agency-wide permanent status employees); Job Appointment (temporary appointment in a classified position for a limit of four years); or by detail to special duty.
