Job summary

OpenAI is seeking an experienced data professional to join the Go-to-Market Data Team in San Francisco. The role blends data modeling, metric definition, visualization, analysis, and self-service tooling to deliver trusted data products and actionable insights for GTM decisions.

You will own metrics and data products end-to-end, build scalable pipelines from diverse sources, and enable stakeholders to explore data independently while applying strong judgment on approach and priority.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of experience in a data role within fast-moving organizations.
• Independent, autonomous, and capable of framing high-impact problems from framing to execution.
• Deep SQL expertise and extensive experience with large datasets and ETL workflows.
• Proficient in Python for data analysis and modeling.
• Experience with BI tools and enabling self-service analytics.
• Familiarity with modern data visualization and custom visualization frameworks.

Responsibilities

• Partner with GTM teams to translate business needs into data models, metrics, analyses, and scalable solutions.
• Define, source, validate, and operationalize metrics used in planning and day-to-day decisions.
• Lead cross-functional data projects and set data strategy for new domains.
• Build scalable data models and pipelines from multiple sources into trusted datasets.
• Create dashboards, reports, and data products enabling stakeholders to answer questions independently.
• Own metrics, models, and data products from exploration to production and maintenance.
• Choose the best approach per problem—analysis, metric, data model, visualization, or self-service product.
• Prioritize requests with strong judgment to balance immediate needs and long-term quality.
