Job summary

Barnes Aerospace is hiring for a weld technician on the 2nd shift (Mon-Fri, 3:30pm–12:00am) with a 15% shift differential. Responsibilities include preparing materials, reading blueprints, setting up welding equipment, and inspecting welds using precision tools. Requires GTAW certification, AWS D17.1, PWA 16 and 3–5 years’ welding experience.

Qualifications

• Certification in GTAW; AWS D17.1; PWA 16 (any group material).
• 3–5 years of welding experience required.
• Pass welding certification tests for current materials used in the shop.
• Read, interpret, and process blueprints and operation sheets.
• Capable of using standard bench tools and gauges for setup, inspection, and welding.
• Complete required quarterly process control samples and logs.
• Maintain neat workstation and promote housekeeping.
• Able to multitask in a manufacturing cell and communicate effectively.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office tools.

Responsibilities

• Prepare materials for welding; cuts, grinds and cleans metal.
• Read weld blueprints and follow work orders.
• Set up welding machines for specified materials, thicknesses and positions.
• Use fixtures and weld positioner to weld.
• Dimensionally inspect welds with calipers, protractors and gauges.
• Inspect parts for proper assembly and cosmetic defects.
• Follow safety guidelines and PPE requirements.
• Complete tasks per schedules within standard times.
