JOB SUMMARY:

Performs Gas Tungsten Arc Welding Machine operations on a line of standard and repetitive parts as specified by layout, welding diagram, or work instructions.



ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:



  • Studies work instructions to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished work piece, sequence of operations, and setup requirements. Dimensional and alignment requirements are liberal or controlled by fixtures.

  • Follows routing and welding procedures without any necessary parameter changes on axial welds (band welds).

  • Follows routing and welding procedures without any necessary parameter changes on well-proven circumferential welds with minimal setup requirements.

  • Performs Gas Tungsten Arc Welding Machine operations on similar and dissimilar metals, usually in flat position requiring limited technique and basic welding fundamentals.

  • Demonstrates familiarity with welding equipment features.

  • Completes sheet metal grinding, forming, and fitting operations as needed.

  • Work is subject to in-process and final inspection.

  • In coordination with Maintenance Department, monitors preventive maintenance on welding equipment.

  • Demonstrates thorough knowledge of and conformity to Ace Precision Quality System Work Instruction requirements that govern Gas Tungsten Arc Welding operations.

  • Maintains or exceeds production standards through organization and planning.

  • Follows and complies with safety rules, regulations, and work instructions.

  • Accurately completes all required documentation.

  • Meets attendance policy requirements.

  • Contributes to team effort by assisting in areas as needed.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

High school diploma or general education degree (GED) with courses in mechanical drawing, shop mathematics, material characteristics, and structural fundamentals. Familiarity with machine welding techniques is a plus. Must be able to qualify machine welded groove welds of 0.032" thick materials of Stainless Steel, Nickel, and Cobalt alloys. Familiarity with weld symbols per AWS A2.4 Symbols for Welding and AWS A3.0 Standard Welding Terms and Definitions is a plus.



LANGUAGE SKILLS:

Ability to read English, analyze and interpret specifications, process control sheets, and routings. Ability to communicate effectively with other employees of the organization.



MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

Ability to apply shop mathematics, interpret complicated and involved drawings, specifications, formulas, and demonstrates competence in use of precision measuring instruments.



REASONING ABILITY:

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations. Requires judgment to plan and perform work, make decisions as to the sequence of processes and quality within the limitations of recognized or standard methods and procedures.
