POSITION SUMMARY
Ground Support Equipment (GSE) Mechanics work on mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems for various GSE equipment. They adhere to service bulletins and perform computer-based software updates, diagnostics, and troubleshooting. This role covers maintenance and repair of a broad range of GSE, including tow tractors, belt loaders, pushback tractors, air start units, cargo loaders, deicers, hydraulic lifts, tugs, and aircraft refueling trucks. All technicians report to the Shop Manager.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Troubleshoot and diagnose mechanical, hydraulic, HVAC, and/or electrical discrepancies on various GSE systems and subsystems.
- Inspect, repair, rebuild/overhaul components such as mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, HVAC, and hydraulic systems.
- Disassemble components, inspect for quality factors, and reassemble to OEM specifications.
- Perform Preventative Maintenance and document all actions using Maintenance Information Systems (MIS).
- Engage in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance operational efficiencies and reduce downtime.
- Adhere to Tool Control, FOD Prevention, Safety, and Parts Accountability.
- Follow environmental safety and regulatory requirements (OSHA, EPA) and ensure proper safety while operating equipment on-site; implement and enforce quality control and safety measures during repair and maintenance.
- Interact professionally with internal departments and external customers.
- Perform routine housekeeping and maintain clean work areas and toolboxes.
- Participate in professional development and training related to GSE maintenance.
- Other assignments as designated by the Shop Manager and/or Lead Technician.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
- Minimum 1-4 years of service repair experience in hydraulic, pneumatic, mechanical, and industrial skills with some PLC and HVAC experience. Associate degree or vocational certification/training may substitute for years of experience for entry-level positions.
- Minimum 1-2 years repairing and maintaining Mobile Heavy Equipment; diesel-powered vehicles experience preferred or equivalent education.
- Strong electrical and hydraulic troubleshooting and repair skills.
- Knowledge of corrosion control with proper PPE.
- Familiarity with repair manuals, wiring diagrams, and schematics (electrical and hydraulic) for troubleshooting and repair.
- Average to advanced computer skills with willingness to increase proficiency.
- Additional skills such as automotive mechanical background or millwright experience; GSE experience is a plus.
- Ability to perform physical requirements of the job (standing, lifting, pushing, pulling, squatting, bending, kneeling, climbing, and working in narrow or awkward spaces).
- Must be able to lift weights exceeding 50 pounds.
- Ability to work in all weather conditions.
- Must possess the hand tools necessary to perform assigned tasks.

- Med/Heavy Truck ASE certification preferred.
