Job summary

Goodwin Recruiting partners with an award-winning polished casual restaurant group in Wichita, KS to identify an exceptional Sous Chef for a fast-paced scratch kitchen. This hands-on leader will partner with the Executive Chef to oversee daily BOH operations and mentor a growing culinary team.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of culinary management in a high-volume full-service restaurant.
• Scratch kitchen experience required.
• Hands-on butchering experience required.
• Experience with corporate restaurant systems.
• Experience in environments with ~$4M+ annual sales preferred.
• Strong knowledge of food cost, labor, inventory, purchasing, and kitchen ops.
• Proven coaching and retention of kitchen staff.
• Stable employment history and progression.
• Polished casual/upscale casual high-volume background preferred.

Responsibilities

• Oversee back-of-house operations with the Executive Chef.
• Lead daily food production and ensure recipe consistency.
• Coach, mentor, and develop hourly culinary staff.
• Maintain food quality, cleanliness, and sanitation standards.
• Assist with scheduling, inventory, purchasing, and vendor relations.
• Help manage food cost, labor cost, and kitchen productivity.
• Participate in hiring, onboarding, training, coaching, and retention.
• Perform and supervise butchering and portion control while maintaining brand quality.
• Lead kitchen operations during the Executive Chef's absence.
• Collaborate with leadership to deliver an outstanding guest experience.
