Job summary

Crawford Thomas Recruiting is seeking a hands-on Controller for a Texas-based equipment dealership and rental company. You will lead daily accounting, improve financial reporting, and help implement a new ERP system as revenue grows from $10M to $20M+.

You will supervise a small accounting team, prepare financial statements, and partner with leadership to drive profitability and operational discipline across multiple branches.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• 3–5 years of Controller/Accounting leadership experience.
• Strong understanding of financial statements, GL, AP/AR, payroll, fixed assets, budgeting & forecasting.
• Experience managing and developing employees.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel and accounting software proficiency.
• Willingness to travel regularly between locations.
• Ability to balance strategic thinking with hands-on execution.

Responsibilities

• Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and close.
• Manage general ledger, reconciliations, AP, AR, collections, payroll, and fixed assets.
• Supervise and develop a two-person accounting team.
• Develop dashboards and KPIs; analyze profitability by branch/equipment/customer.
• Support budgeting, forecasting, cash flow planning, and lender reporting.
• Oversee credit approvals, AR aging, and collections efforts.
• Coordinate inventory controls and periodic counts; assist with fleet utilization.
