Canon Recruiting is assisting a civil litigation public entity defense firm in California to hire an associate attorney. The successful candidate will either independently manage aggressively litigated, high-exposure matters or have about three years of experience and a strong work ethic.

Qualifications

• JD from an accredited law school
• Active bar admission in good standing
• Demonstrated ability to negotiate effectively
• Strong written and verbal communication with attention to detail
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively

Responsibilities

• Manage assigned cases
• Draft motions, oppositions, replies, and other pleadings
• Analyze legal issues, exposures, and potential defenses
• Prepare and respond to written discovery
• Evaluate damages claims
• Collaborate with attorneys at all levels
• Provide guidance to junior attorneys
