Job summary

Growing National Defense Law Firm is seeking a Litigation Associate in California with 1-10+ years of experience to handle a high-quality caseload of sophisticated defense matters. The role offers exposure to complex litigation and a collaborative, entrepreneurial team in a dynamic Orange County office.

The candidate will manage varied matters, including general liability, commercial insurance defense, and related disputes, with strong emphasis on drafting, advocacy, and client communication.

Qualifications

• J.D. from an accredited law school.
• Active membership in the California State Bar.
• Approximately 1-10+ years' litigation experience.
• Previous insurance defense or civil litigation experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Manage a caseload of approximately 10-15 litigation files from inception through resolution.
• Handle pleadings, written discovery, depositions, motion practice, mediations, and court appearances.
• Work closely with partners on high-exposure and catastrophic loss matters.
• Maintain regular communication with clients, insurers, experts, and opposing counsel.
• Develop litigation strategy and manage files efficiently while meeting billable expectations.

Billable Requirement: 2,000 Hours

A highly regarded national litigation firm is seeking a Litigation Associate to join its expanding Orange County office. Due to continued growth and an increasing volume of complex litigation, the firm is looking to appoint an experienced attorney to handle a high-quality caseload of sophisticated defense matters.

This opportunity offers exposure to complex, high-value litigation alongside experienced litigators within a collaborative and entrepreneurial team. The firm is continuing to grow and expects additional hiring as the practice expands.

The Role

The successful candidate will manage a varied caseload of complex litigation matters, primarily focused on general liability and commercial insurance defense, while also gaining exposure to a range of private client commercial disputes.

Cases regularly involve significant financial exposure and challenging legal issues, providing excellent experience for attorneys looking to develop their litigation careers.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage a caseload of approximately 10-15 litigation files from inception through resolution
• Handle all stages of litigation, including pleadings, written discovery, depositions, motion practice, mediations, and court appearances
• Work closely with partners on high-exposure and catastrophic loss matters
• Maintain regular communication with clients, insurers, experts, and opposing counsel
• Develop litigation strategy and manage files efficiently while meeting billable expectations

Requirements

• Strong drafting, advocacy, analytical, and client communication skills
• Ability to independently manage complex litigation matters while working collaboratively within a team
