Job summary

Empathy Talent is seeking an experienced Senior Director of Finance to lead financial operations, strengthen internal controls, and build scalable financial infrastructure to support growth. This high-visibility role combines hands‑on accounting leadership with strategic FP&A, reporting, and systems improvements.

You will work closely with executive leadership, drive profitability insights, and shape the company’s financial future from Irvine, CA, on-site, Monday through Friday.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• 8+ years of progressive experience in accounting and finance with demonstrated leadership responsibilities.
• Strong understanding of GAAP, financial reporting, inventory and cost accounting, and internal controls.
• Experience overseeing accounting operations, close processes, budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management.
• Strong financial modeling, analytical, and strategic planning capabilities.
• Experience working with ERP systems and integrated financial reporting platforms.
• Proven ability to improve financial processes, establish controls, and build scalable financial operations.
• Experience managing and developing accounting or finance teams.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to present financial information to executive leadership.
• Ability to work onsite in Irvine, CA, Monday through Friday.

Responsibilities

• Oversee accounting and finance operations with accurate reporting and strong internal controls.
• Lead month-end and year-end close, GL management, reconciliations, accruals, revenue recognition, and financial statement prep.
• Oversee inventory accounting, cost accounting, and performance analysis.
• Develop and implement policies and controls to improve accuracy, accountability, and efficiency.
• Lead and develop the finance team with clear performance expectations.
• Lead annual budgeting, forecasting, financial modeling, and long-term planning.
• Develop financial forecasts and scenario analyses to support decisions.
• Partner with executives to evaluate profitability, performance, and investments.
• Identify trends, risks, and opportunities with actionable recommendations.
• Establish and monitor key financial and operational KPIs.
• Deliver accurate financial statements, executive reports, and dashboards.
• Translate complex financial data into actionable insights for strategic decisions.
• Improve reporting processes, visibility, and data accuracy across departments.
• Develop scalable reporting frameworks for performance.
