Job summary

Planet Networks is seeking an Accounting & Finance Associate to support accounting operations, month-end close, financial reporting, cash management, and performance analysis.

Approximately 70% of the role focuses on accounting activities (AP/AR, reconciliations, journal entries, fixed assets) and 30% on finance activities (liquidity reporting, KPI analysis, financial modeling). You will work with the VP of Finance & Procurement across departments.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a closely related field.
• Zero to two years of relevant professional experience.
• Internship or experience in public or corporate accounting, FP&A, or audit.
• Strong understanding of accounting concepts and U.S. GAAP.
• Advanced Excel skills: organize, analyze, reconcile, interpret large datasets.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent attention to detail with low error tolerance.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple deadlines and priorities.
• Ability to work independently while collaborating across departments.
• Willingness to learn new systems, processes, and concepts quickly.
• Ability to work onsite in Newton, New Jersey.

Responsibilities

• Support accounts payable activities: review invoices, validate docs, code expenses, ensure accuracy and timeliness.
• Support accounts receivable: record payments, reconcile activity, resolve differences across systems.
• Prepare bank and balance-sheet reconciliations.
• Investigate reconciling items, identify root causes and resolve issues.
• Prepare recurring and nonrecurring journal entries with docs.
• Participate in monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes.
• Maintain accounting schedules and supporting workpapers.
• Assist with fixed-asset and capital-project accounting activities.
• Review transactions for proper classification and GAAP compliance.
• Develop and document accounting procedures and internal controls.
• Assist with financial reporting packages and KPI analyses.
• Analyze cash flow, liquidity reporting, and budgeting variances.
• Support automation and system improvements, including NetSuite implementations.
