Job description

Most advisors build a book from a cold list. This role starts with an audience that already knows us.

Walker Capital Prosperity Group is a boutique advisory firm specializing in federal employees approaching and entering retirement.

Founded by Tom Walker, who brings more than a decade of experience specializing in federal retirement planning, Walker Capital has built its practice around a simple philosophy: Empowerment Through Financial Education.

That philosophy has grown into a community of 14,000+ federal employees through the Well-Fed newsletter, the Well-Fed retirement book, our FEDucated webinar series, and ongoing federal retirement education - with hundreds of federal employees participating in our educational events.

We've built the audience, brand, and infrastructure. We're looking for an advisor who can turn that opportunity into long-term client relationships.

Compensation
  • Competitive base salary plus uncapped production-based compensation
  • Six-figure total compensation is achievable in Year 1 for an advisor who successfully builds production, with that level of production expected entering Year 2
  • Long-term upside grows alongside the client relationships and assets you help bring to the firm
  • Full compensation structure shared with qualified candidates
The Opportunity

Federal employees face unusually complex decisions as they transition into retirement - FERS elections, TSP distributions and rollovers, Social Security, survivor benefits, taxes, insurance, and lifetime income.

Walker Capital has built a specialized practice around helping federal households navigate those decisions.

More than 317,000 federal employees separated from federal service in 2025, creating an unusually large population navigating retirement, benefits, TSP, tax, and income decisions.

You won't start from zero.

You'll have access to:

  • A community of 14,000+ federal employees built through years of education and outreach
  • A recurring FEDucated webinar series generating new planning conversations throughout the year
  • An established database of webinar attendees, Well-Fed newsletter subscribers, and prior inquiries
  • A defined client profile - primarily federal employees ages 55-70 with $500K-$2M in investable assets
  • A fully built virtual practice with CRM, compliance infrastructure, planning technology, AI-enhanced workflows, and client onboarding systems

This isn't a ground-floor startup role. The infrastructure is already here. Your job is to build relationships and scale the advisory business on top of it.

We create opportunity.

You create conversations.

What You'll Do
  • Proactively pursue qualified prospects within our federal employee community
  • Consistently use phone, email, and follow-up to turn interest into planning conversations
  • Convert qualified prospects into long-term advisory clients
  • Guide federal households through retirement income, TSP, tax, insurance, and federal benefit decisions
  • Build relationships that deepen over time
  • Maintain and manage your pipeline with clear production targets and accountability
  • Move people from education to confident action

We measure outcomes - not just activity.

What You Bring
  • Active Series 65 or Series 66 - required
  • Life & Annuity license, or willingness to obtain within 60 days
  • ChFEBC® designation, or willingness to earn it within your first year
  • A demonstrated track record of sourcing and converting prospects
  • Comfort with consistent outbound prospecting and follow-up
  • Strong client-facing communication and relationship-building skills
  • The ability to learn and explain complex retirement concepts clearly
  • Strong technology aptitude and comfort operating inside a modern virtual practice
  • An entrepreneurial mindset - you take ownership rather than waiting for someone to assign the next task
  • Based in or near Charlotte, NC - the practice is virtual, but we value in-person collaboration and training early on

Federal benefits expertise is valuable, but it can be taught. Initiative, sales discipline, curiosity, and the ability to earn trust cannot.

Why Walker Capital

This is not a rank-and-file advisor seat.

We're looking for one growth-minded advisor who wants to play a central role in scaling a specialized practice with real traction - and build a long-term home doing it.

You'll have:

  • A clearly defined niche with complex planning needs and significant opportunity
  • An established brand and reputation within the federal employee community
  • A warmer prospect environment than most advisors ever get to work with
  • An established education and lead-generation engine
  • A fully virtual technology and service infrastructure
  • Direct access to the firm's founder and involvement in the continued development of the advisory practice
  • Uncapped upside tied directly to the business you help build
