Job summary

The Carolina Center for Behavioral Health in Greenville, SC is seeking a Full-Time Master’s Level Group Therapist/Clinician to provide group therapy, crisis intervention and treatment planning to patients across inpatient, partial hospitalization and intensive outpatient settings.

You will lead diverse group sessions, collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, document care promptly, and support discharge planning.

Qualifications

  • Master's degree in social work, psychology, mental health counseling or a related field.
  • Licensure preferred.
  • Minimum of two years of experience in a psychiatric health care facility with group therapy, crisis intervention, and treatment skills.

Responsibilities

  • Lead therapeutic group sessions for diverse patient populations, including crisis stabilization.
  • Facilitate psychoeducational, process-oriented, and skills-based groups.
  • Maintain accurate, timely, and compliant clinical documentation.
  • Coordinate care with psychiatrists, nurses, therapists, case managers, and other interdisciplinary team members.
  • Educate patients on coping skills, symptom management, relapse prevention, stress reduction, and wellness strategies.
  • Foster engagement, therapeutic communication, and meaningful participation among group members.
  • Assist with discharge planning and continuity of care recommendations when appropriate.

Education

Master's degree in social work / psychology / mental health counseling
Licensure preferred

The Carolina Center for Behavioral Health is currently looking for a Master's Level Group Therapist/Clinician to join our team of dedicated professionals.

The Carolina Center for Behavioral Health is a 156‑bed private behavioral health system located on 13 acres in the Greenville, South Carolina Area. Specializing in psychiatric programs and substance abuse treatments such as detox and rehab, The Carolina Center serves Greenville, Spartanburg, Anderson, and areas throughout South Carolina and western North Carolina. Programs are available at various levels of care to accommodate the severity of every patient’s condition: inpatient, partial hospitalization, and intensive outpatient treatment.

Position Summary

We are currently seeking a Full Time Master’s Level Group Therapist/Clinician to provide therapeutic services to patients, including group therapy, crisis intervention, and treatment planning.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead therapeutic group sessions for diverse patient populations, including crisis stabilization, geriatric, adolescent, and adult behavioral health populations
  • Facilitate psychoeducational, process-oriented, and skills-based therapeutic groups
  • Maintain accurate, timely, and compliant clinical documentation, including group notes and treatment updates
  • Coordinate care with psychiatrists, nurses, therapists, case managers, and other interdisciplinary team members to ensure comprehensive treatment
  • Educate patients on coping skills, symptom management, relapse prevention, stress reduction, and wellness strategies
  • Foster engagement, therapeutic communication, and meaningful participation among group members
  • Assist with discharge planning and continuity of care recommendations when appropriate
Schedule Options

This is a full-time position with flexible scheduling options:

  • Monday – Friday
  • Tuesday – Saturday
  • Sunday – Thursday

Qualifications

Education: Master’s degree in social work, psychology, mental health counseling or a similar educational degree required. Licensure preferred.

Experience: A minimum of two (2) years of experience in a psychiatric health care facility, with direct experience in family and group therapies, crisis intervention, and treatment skills. Must have strong clinical assessment skills. Addiction recovery and suicide prevention experience preferred. Experience facilitating therapeutic groups in inpatient, outpatient, partial hospitalization, or behavioral health setting preferred.

Machines, Tools, & Equipment: Telephone, computer and software programs, paging system, audio‑visual equipment, fax machine, copy machine, physical restraints, first aid items, program manuals, and shredder.
