Job summary

The Carolina Center for Behavioral Health is seeking a Lead Therapist to provide therapeutic services, including group therapy, crisis intervention, and treatment planning, and to support inpatient therapists and case managers in Greenville/Greer, SC.

We value empathy, strong clinical assessment skills, and dedication to patient progress. A Master’s degree and licensure are required, with 1–3 years in a psychiatric health care setting.

Qualifications

  • Master's degree in social work, psychology, mental health counseling or a similar educational degree required.
  • Licensure required.
  • A minimum of 1-3 years of experience in a psychiatric health care facility.
  • Experience with family and group therapies, crisis intervention, and treatment skills.

Responsibilities

  • Lead therapeutic group sessions for diverse patient populations including crisis stabilization, geriatric, adolescent, and adult behavioral health.
  • Supervise and aid in the professional development of intern and practicum students.
  • Maintain accurate, timely, and compliant clinical documentation, including group notes and treatment updates.
  • Provide support and leadership across the social services department in verbal de-escalation techniques.
  • Educate patients on coping skills, symptom management, relapse prevention, stress reduction, and wellness strategies.
  • Assist with discharge planning and continuity of care recommendations when appropriate.

Specializing in psychiatric programs and substance abuse treatments such as detox and rehab, The Carolina Center serves Greenville, Spartanburg, Anderson, and areas throughout South Carolina and western North Carolina. Position Summary

Qualifications
Requirements
Education

Master's degree in social work, psychology, mental health counseling or a similar educational degree required. Licensure required

Experience

A minimum of 1-3 years of experience in a psychiatric health care facility, with direct experience in family and group therapies, crisis intervention, and treatment skills. Must have strong clinical assessment skills. Addiction recovery and suicide prevention experience preferred.
