Responsibilities include welcoming youth, guiding behavior with developmentally appropriate methods, documenting progress, and aligning with district policies.

Qualifications

• 18 years or older with a high school diploma or GED.
• Enjoyment of youth and good mental and physical health.
• Respect for diverse cultural backgrounds; willingness to undergo background checks required by law.
• Willingness to complete training requirements.

Responsibilities

• Plans for and implements pleasant arrivals and departures.
• Uses routines to build relationships and learning opportunities.
• Shows respect for youth and encourages respectful interactions.
• Uses Conscious Discipline language to build relationships and strengthen youth’s social and emotional competencies.
• Uses guidance techniques to help youth resolve conflicts and meet individual needs.
• Involves youth in planning activities and space; maintains a safe, organized environment.
• Keeps youth portfolios, documents progress, and adheres to program policies and evaluations.
• Maintains professional appearance and participates in staff meetings and professional development.
