Bentonville Schools seeks an enthusiastic Adventure Club Group Teacher to create a fun, safe, and educational enrichment environment for youth. You will plan weekly activities, support social-emotional growth, and collaborate with staff to ensure consistent program quality and positive outcomes for students.

Responsibilities include welcoming youth, guiding behavior with developmentally appropriate methods, documenting progress, and aligning with district policies.

Qualifications

  • 18 years or older with a high school diploma or GED.
  • Enjoyment of youth and good mental and physical health.
  • Respect for diverse cultural backgrounds; willingness to undergo background checks required by law.
  • Willingness to complete training requirements.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Interactions with Youth
  1. Plans for and implements pleasant arrivals and departures.
  2. Uses routines as a time to build relationships and learning opportunities.
  3. Shows respect for youth and encourages respectful interactions.
  4. Uses Conscious Discipline language to build relationships and strengthen youth’s social and emotional competencies.
  5. Uses indirect and direct guidance techniques.
  6. Supports youth as they learn to resolve their own conflicts.
  7. Strives to meet each youth’s individual needs.
  8. Involves youth in the planning of activities and program space.
Activities and Environment
  1. Maintains a clean, organized, inviting environment that is safe and developmentally appropriate.
  2. Plans and implements a variety of engaging learning experiences through weekly lesson plans. Incorporates STEM Projects.
  3. Uses the outdoors as part of the learning environment.
  4. Teaches and provides guidance for the development of good health habits.
  5. Plans and implements a daily schedule that meets the needs of individual youth.
  6. Accepts responsibility for shared space.
  7. Ensures materials are rotated and sanitized and recalled or broken items are disposed of. Link for recalls is posted for parents and on site devices.
  8. Maintains youth portfolios and updates weekly.
  9. Successfully implements Program Quality Assessment standards.
Professional Responsibilities
  1. Meets program attendance requirements as outlined in the personnel handbook.
  2. Submits time off and clocks in/out at assigned time in Frontline. Is punctual.
  3. Maintains professional appearance following program dress code.
  4. Open to new ideas and suggestions for working with children and take initiative.
  5. Accepts responsibility for job-related tasks, including documentation and all record keeping.
  6. Meets program expectations regarding job performance as outlined in the personnel handbook.
  7. Meets program expectations for professional developments as outlined in the personnel handbook.
  8. Attends all staff meetings and meets program expectations for professional development.
  9. Knows and follows emergency and risk management procedures.
  10. Keeps site supervisor apprised of individual youth and group’s status.
  11. Completes all Better Beginnings requirements.
  12. Accepts all assignments given by supervisors.
  13. Maintains all program requirements: minimum licensing, program policies and Program Quality Assessment expectations.
  14. Completes yearly self-evaluation.
  15. Use good judgment and keep information confidential.
Interactions with Parents and Staff
  1. Works to build positive relationships with parents, co-workers, school personnel and others.
  2. Communicates effectively with parents, co-workers and others daily; avoids gossip.
  3. Works as part of a team with concern for the entire program and is flexible.
  4. Assists in planning family involvement activities to strengthen families.

Performance of this job will be evaluated based on the Child Enrichment Services Personnel Handbook and District’s Classified Personnel Evaluation.
