Job summary

Stepping Stones is seeking a Group Supervisor for School Age Programs in Cranberry Twp, PA. The role involves planning daily activities, observing and assessing children, and coordinating with the School Age Director to ensure a safe, engaging environment.

The position requires a Bachelor's or Associate's degree in Early Childhood or Human Services, with substantial hours of experience, and offers full-time, non-exempt status with a signing bonus and competitive benefits.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or higher in a relevant field with a focus on early childhood education or human services.
• Experience with planning and implementing child-centered activities and assessments is preferred.
• Understanding of DRDP and lesson planning is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Plans and implements daily program activities, including assisting the Site Director with designated activities.
• Ensures monthly observations are recorded for each enrolled child.
• Completes formal DRDP assessments twice per academic year.
• Develops daily lesson plans and submits weekly to the School Age Director.
• Coordinates activities with the Assistant Group Supervisor to maximize learning.
• Plans and facilitates both free play and structured activities.
• Communicates daily via notes, email, or portal about children's activities and well-being.
• Sets clear rules and expectations of behavior for the children.
• Participates in group activities with children (art, sports, games, outdoor play).
• Encourages and supports children.
• Assists in ensuring Stepping Stones policies and DHS regulations are met.

Age Range: Kindergarten -4th grade

Group Supervisor - School Age Programs

FSLA: Full-Time Non-Exempt

Reports to: Site Director/Kindergarten Teacher

Position Summary

The Group Supervisor is responsible for planning and implementing daily activities and is responsible to the Site Director/Kindergarten Teacher.

Primary Activities and Responsibilities

• Plans and implements daily program activities, including assisting the Site Director with designated activities.


• Ensures that monthly observations are being recorded for each child enrolled.


• Completed formal assessments (DRDP) twice per academic school year.


• Develops lesson plans for each day, posts them in the program and submits them on a weekly basis to the School Age Director (Monday mornings).


• Coordinates activities with Assistant Group Supervisor to ensure maximum learning opportunities.


• Plans and facilitates free play learning activities and structured learning activities.


• Communicates daily via written notes, email, and/or electronic portal about children's activities and well-being.


• Sets clear rules and expectations of behavior for the children.


• Participates in individual group activities with the children, such as art, sports, games, outdoor play, etc.


• Encourages and supports children.


• Assists the Site Director in ensuring all Stepping Stones policies and DHS regulations are met and maintained.


• Ensures a healthy classroom environment - including maintaining appropriate hygiene and cleanliness standards and guaranteeing the safety and security of the children.


• Attends monthly staff meetings and receives twelve (12) hours of training annually - including Fire Safety (annually), and EOP training (annually) and CPR/Pediatric First Aid (every two years).


• Miscellaneous tasks as assigned by supervisor.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, Special Education, Elementary Education, or the Human Services field (Psychology and/or social work.)


• Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university, including thirty (30) credit hours in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, Special Education Elementary Education, or the Human Services field (Psychology and/or Social Work) and 1250 hours of experience with children.


• An Associate's degree from an accredited college or university in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, Special Education, Elementary Education, or the Human Services field (Psychology and/or social work.)


• An Associate's degree from an accredited college or university including thirty (30) credit hours in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, Special Education Elementary Education or the Human Services field (Psychology and/or social work) and 3750 hours of experience with children.

Knowledge and Skills

• Demonstrated experience in program development and planning for children.


• Strong understanding of child development.


• Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and computer literacy skills.
