Job summary

Qualifications

• Education requirements include degrees in ECE/related fields with 1–4 years of child experience.
• Must have PA Teaching Certification in Special Education, Elementary Education, Early Childhood Education or Child Development.
• Public certification preferable.
• Up-to-date child abuse clearances and background checks.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement educational programs for children 6 weeks to 5 years old.

• Develop schedules and activities, including math and literacy concepts.
• Communicate with parents about progress and program expectations.
• Maintain confidential client files and ensure active supervision at all times.

SUMMARY: Develops and implements educational programs for children 6 wks. to five years old in the Child Care settings in cooperation with the child's family, outside agencies and staff members.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned:

• 1. Ensure the provision of nutritious snacks and lunches
• 2. Provide adequate equipment and activities
• 3. Ensure equipment and the facility are clean, well maintained and safe at all times
• 4. Provide weekly and monthly schedules of activities
• 5. Develop culturally appropriate programs and activities
• 6. Develop activities that introduce math and literacy concepts
• 7. Establish policies and procedures including acceptable disciplinary policies
• 8. Be familiar with emergency procedures
• 9. Keep parents informed of program expectations, program activities and their child's progress
• 10. Develop and maintain current, accurate and confidential client files
• 11. Ensure children are supervised at all times
• 12. Establish routines and provide positive guidance
• 13. Provide a safe and secure environment for children to feel comfortable
• 14. Implement positive discipline when required
• 15. Designated staff person who is responsible for compliance when Program Director is absent
• 16. Participates in atleast 2 center activities a year

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE: A Child Care Group Supervisor shall have attained one of the following qualification levels:

• 1. Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, Special Education, Elementary Education or the human services field and 1-year experience with children.
• 2. A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university, including 30 credit hours in early childhood education, child development, special education, elementary education or the human service field and 2 years of experience with children.
• 3. An associate's degree from an accredited college or university in early childhood education, child development, special education, elementary education or the human services field and 3 years of experience with child.
• 4. An associate's degree from an accredited college or university, including 30 credit hours in early childhood education, child development, special education, elementary education or the human services field and 4 years of experience with children.

LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read, analyze and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of parents, outside organizations, and fellow staff members.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and normative statistics. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

REASONING ABILITY: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form. Decision-making ability. Adaptability in emergency situations.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS, CLEARANCES: PA Teaching Certification in Special Education, Elementary Education, Early Childhood Education or Child Development. Public certification preferable. Up-to-date child abuse clearances (within one year or completed and received before state date) including FBI Fingerprinting, Pennsylvania State Police Criminal Background Check, Pennsylvania Department of Human Services' Child Abuse, and National Sex Offender Registry.

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Skilled in instructional audiovisual equipment, assistive devices, adaptive seating, computer hardware/software and gross motor equipment. Individual must have own transportation.
