Job summary
Volunteers of America-Greater New York seeks a Residential Counselor in Fanwood, NJ. The role delivers wellness and recovery-oriented case management and supports residents in a group home setting.
You will develop skills, provide counseling, coordinate transportation, crises intervention, and assist with daily living while adhering to applicable state regulations and agency procedures. Minimum qualifications include a degree in mental health or related field, nursing license, or equivalent
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in mental health, health or related discipline, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- RN license or equivalent credential.
- At least one year of related work or life experience if college degree does not meet requirements.
Responsibilities
- Provide on-site supervision and support to service recipients.
- Communicate observations to program manager and treatment team.
- Supervise and organize recreational activities.
- Transport or assist recipients with transportation to appointments.
- Provide residential counseling and crisis intervention.
- Participate in development of the individual service plan.
- Participate in service coordination activities including vocational/educational services.
- Document observations and services in progress notes.
- Maintain a clean, safe living environment and assist with meals and ADLs.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
