Job summary

YMCA of Southwest Florida is seeking a Group Exercise Instructor to deliver safe, effective, and age-appropriate group workouts under the direction of the Wellness Director. You will lead classes, set up and break down equipment, and ensure participants use proper footwear and follow safety protocols.

Responsibilities include learning participants' health concerns, adapting moves for different abilities, keeping orderly facilities, and coordinating substitutes when needed.

Qualifications

• State of Florida Criminal History Background Check compliant.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Must not diagnose injuries or dispense medical advice.
• Self-starter with high energy and a positive attitude.
• Adhere to drug/alcohol/smoke-free workplace policy.

Responsibilities

• Deliver safe, effective group exercise classes.
• Prepare facility and equipment, start on time and manage setup/takedown.
• Ensure safety and music appropriate for a family setting.
• Learn participants' names, health concerns, and physical limitations; monitor during class.
• Arrange substitutes and communicate with supervisor promptly.
• Attend mandatory staff meetings and follow timekeeping procedures.
