Job summary

The YMCA of Greater Houston seeks a Group Exercise Instructor to lead engaging, safe fitness classes that support members’ health and wellness. You will provide clear instruction, modify moves for different levels, and foster an inclusive, welcoming atmosphere.

Qualifications

• At least 18 years of age.
• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• CPR, First Aid, AED certifications and child abuse prevention training on hire.
• Previous experience teaching group exercise classes preferred.
• Strong communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills.
• Primary Group Fitness Certifications or specialty certifications required.

Responsibilities

• Plan and lead safe, effective, and engaging group exercise classes.
• Demonstrate proper exercise techniques with modifications for all levels.
• Create a welcoming, inclusive class environment and encourage participation.
• Monitor participant safety and respond to injuries or emergencies.
• Arrive prepared for scheduled classes and set up equipment as needed.
• Maintain current certifications and adhere to safety policies.
