Job summary

YMCA of Greater Houston seeks a Group Exercise Instructor to lead engaging, safe fitness classes for members of varying levels. Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• CPR, First Aid, AED certifications and Child Abuse prevention training upon hire.
• Previous experience teaching group exercise classes preferred.
• Strong communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills.
• Required certifications: Primary Group Fitness Certifications (ACE, AFAA, NASM, Les Mills) and/or specialty certifications.

Responsibilities

• Plan and lead safe, effective, and engaging group exercise classes.
• Demonstrate proper exercise techniques with modifications for different fitness levels.
• Create an inclusive class environment that encourages participation and connects members to Y programs.
• Monitor participant safety and respond to injuries or emergencies.
• Maintain certifications and comply with safety, risk management, and training policies.
• Communicate program needs and participant concerns to staff and supervisors.
• Promote YMCA programs, events, and wellness initiatives.
• Keep the exercise area clean and safe before, during, and after classes.
• Attend staff meetings and trainings and follow YMCA policies.
