Job summary

The YMCA of Greater Houston is seeking a Group Exercise Instructor to lead engaging, safe fitness classes that accommodate a range of abilities. You will promote the YMCA values, ensure participant safety, and create a welcoming environment that connects members with programs and other participants.

Responsibilities include planning and delivering classes, demonstrating proper form, and maintaining equipment and records. Flexible scheduling and on-site work are expected.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Current CPR, First Aid and AED certifications on hire.
• Primary group fitness certifications from ACE, AFAA, NASM or Les Mills.
• Additional child abuse prevention training preferred.

Responsibilities

• Plan and lead safe, engaging group exercise classes to meet diverse fitness levels.
• Provide clear instructions and modifications for all participants.
• Create an inclusive class environment that encourages participation.
• Monitor safety and respond to injuries or emergencies during classes.
• Arrive prepared, set up equipment, and maintain a clean, safe space.
• Communicate program needs and participant concerns to staff.
