Qualifications

Job Summary

We are seeking high-level Group Financial Underwriters to support employer-sponsored Life & Disability and/or Dental & Vision benefit lines. This role focuses exclusively on group underwriting for large employer groups and requires prior underwriting experience within health insurance carriers offering group benefits.

This position is not appropriate for:

• Claims-focused roles
• Banking or non-insurance financial underwriters
• Underwriters without group employer experience

The role supports internal sales partners and is not client-facing.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform financial group underwriting for employer groups with 100+ eligible lives
• Analyze historical claims, premium performance, and utilization trends
• Develop premium rate calculations, projections, and future cost estimates
• Evaluate group performance and risk to determine appropriate pricing
• Prepare and deliver group benefit quotes (Life & Disability or Dental & Vision) to internal sales teams
• Collaborate with internal sales associates and underwriting partners across multiple time zones
• Support new business and renewal underwriting decisions
• Use historical data to project future plan costs and benefit performance

Required Qualifications

• 2+ years of Group Underwriting experience within a Health Insurance carrier
• Direct underwriting experience with Group Life & Disability and/or Group Dental & Vision products
• Proven experience underwriting employer-sponsored group benefits (100+ lives)
• Strong financial and analytical skills, including premium development and claim projection
• Proficient with Microsoft Excel and MS Office applications
• Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, remote environment
• Experience collaborating with internal sales teams

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience underwriting both Life & Disability and Dental & Vision products
• Prior experience in high-volume group underwriting environments
• Previous contract or carrier-side underwriting experience
• Fully remote (U.S. based)
• Collaboration with underwriting and sales teams across all U.S. time zones
