Job summary

The YMCA of Metro Atlanta is seeking a Level I Group Exercise Instructor to lead land and water classes at the Andrew & Walter Young Family YMCA. The role involves music selection, class setup, and participant education in wellness concepts, THE COACH APPROACH®, and safety practices.

Under the Wellness Director, you will log attendance, coordinate substitutions, and ensure safety guidelines are followed. Must have a high school diploma, CPR/AED, and obtain required certifications within 60 days

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years or older.
• CPR/AED certification required and renewed every two years.
• Must obtain YMCA/ACE Group Exercise Instructor Certification within 60 days of hire.
• Water instructors may need YMCA/AEA Aquatic Fitness Certification within 60 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Lead group exercise classes on land and water.
• Set up and take down equipment; select appropriate music.
• Educate participants on THE COACH APPROACH® and wellness topics.
• Maintain attendance logs in GroupEx PRO; check facility updates.
• Arrange substitute instructors as needed and obtain approval before release.
• Follow risk and safety guidelines; adhere to emergency procedures.
